Lifeless and proud of it! (The Harry Potter post)

After reading mel's blog, finishing my second read of Deathly Hallows and being struck down anew with HP fever, I've just been listening to podcasts, reading reviews, and exploring Mugglenet with fresh hunger. Finally reaching Amazon.com, I scrolled through 1,054 reader reviews, one of which was named "Voldy is a Dummy" and thought, which one of us is more in need of a life?

But hooray hooray! I must hunt down mel and start discussing again, although it's not as fun to talk harry potter theories when everything's been rounded up so nicely. I've had quite a few conversations with people this week about the book where we've realised in our mad agony to finish the book before being told the ending, we missed a lot of things, and several of these talks ended with one of us saying something like "Wha---??? Tonks died?!" and rushing away to consult the nearest copy of the book.

But oh no Snape! It is so typical that the first emergence of unrequited, long-suffering love could make me suddenly feel so friendly about a character that's really been quite awful throughout books 1-6.

I remember going to the library at Marine Parade and searching the Young Adult section. It is so satisfying to be a Young Adult, or an "M" as Marine Parade has cryptically labelled us. Books full of "M"s like us, doing cool stuff, fulfilling their destinies and marrying the pretty, witty sidekick/princess/irritating person who becomes not-irritating. Everything is so obvious and clear in those books, unlike stuff like Finnigan's Wake, I mean, what on earth is going on there? The mysterious "M" age before we discover things like disillusionment and black coffee to get us through the day. Hooray for us, the "M" people!
